In Episode 17 of Marketing Podcast Weekly, your hosts Rob Booker and Jason Pyles receive an email from James who poses some thought-provoking questions about “the idea” and the execution of the idea. Some people believe that the execution is what matters most. Others argue that the execution is a moot point, if the idea isn’t worthy or substantial in the first place.
So, we spend some time exploring the concept of having an original idea, and we talk about the importance of having a twist or a “hook” to enhance it. We also talk about the simplicity of the premise and whether there’s a difference in value between a simple premise and a complicated one.
In Episode 17, we also discuss how simple ideas tend to be the easiest to implement but hardest to sell. If something seems too good to be true, human nature often makes us feel skeptical or leery. Along those same lines, how often do we think we should earn some reward whenever we do something complicated?
